FINAL PERFORMANCE!! PERFECT DAY :)

Yesterday was my last day in this funny subject!!! I have to say that I was a bit sad because during this course I have found new friends, fantastic teachers and I have discovered and improved my skills in drama, music and visual arts.

After weeks preparing the script, doing the videos and searching for the best costumes, finally we did it. The day arrived and, of course, we were really nervous or, maybe, just me, but my final impression was that we achieved what we were found.

While we were prepearing the performance we met together and we put in common our ideas. I said that we could reflect our cultural backgrounds in the performance by dreams of the actress. Also I searched about tipicals Spanish wedding by asking my parents and looking for the best and famous places where people likes to get married.

Regarding the high level of work which is involved in this performance we met on several occassions, at that moments we worked together respecting the others opinions and sharing ideas.


Reflexion

In my opinion, I enjoyed every meeting that we had and I had learned about my classmates new ways to create a play. Every group have made me feel something different, the performance Erasmus Match Maker has been really really funny and well executed; the performance Erasmus story (pirates) has been played perfect by their actos, and finally the Asian performance has recreated a peaceful environment and has been very well prepared and selected information to interpret.
For me as a future teacher is very important to value thee group working as it is also essential the individual one.


Here I enclose the script of the performance where we had used tecniques such us:

Actors:
  • Tibor - Gema's future husband and Michaela's son
  • Gema - Tibor's future wife and Mari's daughter

Michaela cleaning - she find photo album with Jairo ( Gemas father) , and Jose (Tibors father) …lost one photo at the floor
Screen: pictures of Jose later on with Jairo.
Michaela: dusting the frames with Jose’s pics, then she finds photo album behind the shelf and she looks inside and discovers its old photos of her and her true love Jairo. She goes through the photo album and she remembers old time melancholically.

Michaela: Ohh… I have to continue cleaning cuz my lovely son is returning home from horrible Spain. I don't understand why he went there in the first place.
Screen: video in the car (Gema, Tibor and Maria).

(Tibor : Will came by the car with Gema and Gemas mother ) (Tibor introduce Gema and her mother in Slovakia)
Tibor : Hi mom , I would like to introduce you my fience Gema.
Gema : Olá, el kantale dela fiente …
(Silence)
Michaela : Just a moment, ( Uno momento ) - Why spanish girl!!!!!!!!! , you know i hate spanishTibor : But my dad was Spanish!!
Michaela : Exactely! 
(go back to Gema and Maria)
(fishy handshake)
Michaela : Lets go eat !

(sitting)
Michaela : You are siting here , you're here and you're here !Tibor : Mom! But I want to sit with Gema !
Michaela: OK !! Do what you want ! You piss me off al the time!
(sitting behind the table , Maria cleaning fork, Michaela giving more typical slovak food)
Maria : Excuse me! where is the bathroom ?
Tibor: Go on this way.
(Maria go to the bathroom) (people are frozen”- Maria finds a photo)

Maria: MY HUSBAND??! Why is this photo here ? What are they doing together ? HOW??

(Maria return to the table- we start moving again)

Maria : You have really nice bath room ( putting photo to the bra)

First wedding SLOVAK:

Michaela: SO they r getting married. Ohh.. its going to be fabulous, I can see it now. In Košice in Dom saint Elisabeth. The pictures are going to be taken in front of fountain and in the city park, in our beautiful old town. I will invite everyone and we are going to have 5 courses and many variety of cakes and live band, and they r going to kidnap her and hope Tibor wont be able to find her. I thinks she is going to drink a lot, and my poor son is going to pay so hight bill in bars. And
probably she will not want to dance in red dress at midnight and collect the money BUT she will have to do it, its the tradition!!! And I can imagine the first dance… hope she is good dancer.. ohh.. I can see it now…

(Tibor and Gema will appear and dance the waltz)

Second wedding SPAIN:
Maria: No, no, no it has to be in Spain. My little girl is going to get married. But she has to finish her house in Spain before the wedding. It is a tradition as it’s also having a bachelor party the day before the wedding.Oh! I can’t believe it, I think I will cry when I will see her walking to the Cathedral of Granada with the Alhambra at the background while her future husband waits for her at the entrance of the church.And also when the children carriy the rings to the altar and then, they will como out of the church and all the guests will throw rice at them.But the highlight of the wedding will be when we dance Sevillanas.

(Maria gets up and starts to dance with Gema Sevillanas)
(Maria and Gema finished dance and stand in the stage and Tibor is going to tell both moms that the wedding is going to be this monday in The Netherlands.) 

Screen: Tibor and Gema on the video. Gema is walking to Tibor, and then it goes to priest and he

Maria is cleaning the bedroom and Tibor and Michaela are in front of door, knocking and entering..

Tibor: How are you doing Gemita today?
Gema: Ohhh..darling I was waiting for you, finally you came.

Tibor: Yes, I came.. it's time to go to bed. It's late Gemita.
Tibor to Michaela: Poor girl she is still dreaming about our wedding.
Michaela: Yes, its seems.
Maria: Like every monday.

Rehearsal day!! (haste, nerves, fear)

Today has been a different day, the presentation of our final performances is comming and the teachers have said to us that we will had a rehearsal day!! 

In groups, the first hour two groups and in the second hour another two, we have done the rehearsal. In this time the teacher, Jet de Jong has given us some feedback about our performance as it is also have done our classmates. 

This rehearsal have helped us to change those things that are not good and to improve those one which are paramount in the play. In my case, mine classmates have said to us that we have to talk to the audience and the teacher has also said to me that have to look like a mother because I am so young and I need to characterize myself like my character.


As I said before, my group have helped the other one to know when they want to have the lights, when need to start videos, etc. By doing it, we can learn how the other group work, what they do well and wrong and how we can help them to make it better.




After the rehearsal, we have decided to practice our performance to improve those aspects that we have gotten worse and improve them. For that reason we have asked to the teacher if we can use a classroom to do it.

Visual arts day! (the performance presentation is close)

Today in Performing arts we have gone to another class with our Visual Arts teacher, Amanda Hendriks. She has explained us what are visual arts in teathre and how we can create our scenery for the final performance.




This classroom has everything for create a perfect scenery, materials such as cardboard, scissors, glue, tape, paint; I can say that there is all we will need so we had started in our own groups to make it. 

My group has done one 3D wedding cake because in our performance we will have to different imaginary weddings which reflect some aspects of the Spanish and Slovak culture, for that reason we have painted it with these flags. Also when it will be totally dry we will put the groom and the bride on top of it to help the audience identify the theme.




In other hand, we have designed three frames with the colour of the Spanish flag because it is an important point in our performance. 




My conclusion of this class, as a future teacher, has been that we have to give children the oportunity to be responsable and able to work as an adult using the materials of the class and cooperating with the others. In my opinion, children always want to explore so we just have to be their guides in their learning.

NEW TECHNIQUES FOR ACTION

Yesterday, we started the class playing a game called TUTTI FRUTTI!!!!. Every one had a fruit name like, bannana, apple or orange and it was about changing the places with the other fruits like you. If you did not achieve a place you stayed in the middle and said the next fruit name. After playing several times in this way the teached decided to change the names of the fruits and she suggested us to use this fruit names but how we call them in our countries. Then the game started to be really fun because nobody knew when to move.
      

After this game, the teacher explained us a new technique of acting. This technique consisted in recreate a story by slides and between them there are two story-tellers that explain what will happen in the story.











    Therefore, the teacher taught us another technique by an example of a couple in a restaurant . In this example and with the help of two classmates (Tibor and Angelina) she explained us how the actors can express their thoughts while they are acting. They can stopped what they were doing and tell to the audience what they think while the other actors are frozen.









     To concluide the class, we had to elaborate a play in groups of 3 or 4 people in which we use one of these two techniques given. My group and I decided to use the second technique as you can see in this video.



     In music class, some classmates have shown a presentation of their culture like Morgane and the Dutch girls, and then, Tibor and Gema have exhibited their graphic notation as well Jairo and I have done.

DRAMATIC STYLES


Today, we have started with a warming up where in pairs of the same height we had to push her making different efforts depending on what the teacher has said. I have been really funny to see how some make a greater effort to push their partner.


Then, we have begun with the dramatic styles. For learning this, the teacher have said to us that we had to make a dialogue only with 8 sentences and it had to be easy. My partner Gema and I have written a dialogue about an Spanish party. Then she has told us that we can use different dramatic styles such as:

  • Fear
  • Western
  • Puppets
  • Remote
  • Terror
  • Dumb
  • And more!


This has been my dialogue with Gema.


After written it we had to interpret our dialogue two times with two different dramatic styles that we could choose. Here, you can see our interpretation.





After a little break, we have continued with the classes but now with music class. Today we have learned about the Graphic notation. The graphic notation consisted in be able to interpret a music play using other simbols.

We can use the graphic notation in a school of Primary Education but we always have to be careful about the age of the children because depending on the age we will use the example number 1 or number 2.

Afterwards, the teacher has given us different papers with some dots an lines on it, and also, a few papers with this letters: P, MF, FF. The aim has been to put in order this part of a song written in graphic notation.



We also presented our RAPs in pairs or groups of three. The topic of the rap has to be our stay here in The Netherlands.

PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS DAY :)

Today has been a good day where my group and I have presented our preliminary invertigation in The Middle Ages.


Before the presentation, we met together to talk about what we were going to do. We were three students, two from Greece and one (me) from Spain so we decided to talked about these two countries in the middle ages and how was their architecture, painting, drama and music.

Our meeting were always in the redesidence and in them I had noticed that it will be difficult to work in group. Sometimes some memebers came late, other did not like the ideas and also they did not know how to work with a Power Point so I realized that I will have to do a big part of it.

But fortunately, the day of the presentation everything have gone better that I have expected. We have tried to be clear and to send a short but important information of our cultures.


On the other hand, the other groups have done it really good I could be able to learn new ideas of presenting this kind of information in a entertaining way.

Feelings and moods class

Our class today has been very lovely, really scary and always funny! We have played a game in which we have to say our names by acting a feeling or mood. It has been so funny to see how many different mood we can show and how my classmates act them.

Then we have started to play in groups or pairs.


The first game Marina, Jairo and I have acted like washing the dishes and during this we have had to increase the level of the feeling that we have been interpreted. 


The second game have been in large groups, each have had a role (feeling). They have been entered in the stage one by onu and each one have had a feeling. Then another person has come into stage the rest have imitated him/her and when that person has lelft, turns to imitate the latter sentiment.

In this class, I have tried to feel more confidence with my classmates and my friends, improve my way of acting and, definitely, learn about the new techniques.

After break, we have had music class and I has been our first one. The teacher has started with a strange song that we have repeated few times:

MIME!! Acting, slides, and fun!!

-     The class has started with an acting, MY FIRST ACTING!!



       In play, the teacher has told us that we have to represent something in 3 slides because the lights will turn off and on and in this moment you will have to be changed the possition. My group (Eirini, Gema and I) have decided to represent a car and motorbike crash.

      With this new technique we have been able to create and represent in a short time a theatre. My theatre has called "Change-me" in which we have told the story of two girls who do not like their looks and decide to go to a TV to completely change its appearance. Reluctantly they not end with the expected result but the artists are satisfied. Everything has ended up being a disaster. In this play performed in mime and represented, first without music, and afterward with two very different styles of music, it had as themed the mess.




      During this activities I have learned that is hard to be an actor o actress and to play a role. Also I have noticed that I have to try to be less shy in front of people and I think this activities will help.

1, 2, 3,.....PERFORMING ARTS!!!

Today has been my first day at HAN (Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen). We have started the semester with Performing Arts, as the coordinators said the days before in the Introduction week, it will be every Wednesdays from 13:30 till 16:00. When I have arrived to the class the teacher (Jen de Jong) has explained to us how the classes will be and what do we have for the assessment. After this, she has shown us historical aspects of music and drama.


The Spanish students have represented a small work in which we have reflected some aspects of our culture, one of them dancing.


During this class, I have started to think about which are my qualities in drama, music and visual arts.
  • Drama: I think I can represent easy roles with short dialogues for that reason I would like to be able to act in a large play without be nervous and afraid.

  • Music: I think I am good at playing the rythem of the music because I love dancing. In this course I would like to be able of improve my music skill, learn some strategies for my school practice and show the others what I can do with the music that is dance.

  • Visual arts: I think I am able to remember remarcable images and also to do manual labours. In this course I would like to recreate a scene of a play with the smallest number of elements, to be able to designe a good background and to improve my skills in moviemaking.
